Cord grip help files

Cord grips on a lamp are a very important part of the installation, as they are used to stop any pulling of the flex causing the wires to come out of the lampholder connections. You need to imagine holding the lamp up by the wire and ensuring there is no strain on the connections.

There are several cord grips and several ways to fix them.

  • A cord strap that fits across the flex can be used on the base of a wooden lamp.
  • A cord grip added to the flex can be used behind the entry hole in a vase for example.
  • A cord grip glued into the entry hole is a nice way to protect the flex from damage in a glass bottle or vase.
