Fact sheets and Guides

One of the hardest questions we get relates to selling your product and whilst we have not found any good information on the web relating to this, below I will try and give you the best advice I can. We also have a few documents that may help and when we find any more we will add them here.

So I’ve made my lovely light and now I want to sell it, what do I need to do?

The most important thing to remember is this:-

It must be safe and it must be fit for the purpose.

So some things to think about when you are making the lamp.

Does it need earthing if so use a 3 core flex?

                Is it wired correctly?

Is there a core strain relief to stop the flex being pulled?

Is the flex protected against any sharp edges?

Is the fuse rating correct (3amp in most cases)

Once its built then have it PAT tested by a competent person. This will check the electrical safety but also some of the above as well. If you want to do it yourself please do a one day PAT testing course at the least so you are aware of what to look for.

The ideal way forward is to have a test house test your product if you were to sell lots of them or it was going into production etc but in most cases we just want to sell a fell here and there.

Also why not have a chat to your local Trading Office and see if they can advise.

Please remember this, you must be competent in doing electrical work before starting any project as electricity is dangerous.

Below are some documents that we have found from that may well be of help in some areas.
